web log - friday, august 24, 2001 day 40. where did you come from, where did you go, where did you come from cotton eyed joe... hannah had another good night. she seems to be waking up at 6am and being ready to be awake. while it's good that she goes to sleep at 9pm and stays down easily until 6am... i just wish she'd go down at 10pm and wake up at 7am. she also had her 1 month check-up today. she's 10 lbs. 14 oz. (1 lb. 13oz. more than her birth weight) and she's 22-3/4 in. long (3/4 in. longer than her birth length). So, she's in the 95th percentile; meaning she's bigger than 95% of other babies of the same age. this will obviously change but it's still kinda cool. she got one vaccine shot today, hepatitis b, and really didn't cry too much. work was ok. nothing spectacular happened. but no ground was made on solving the problems that i mentioned yesterday. sigh. eventually, it have to be and any delays will not be blamed on me. we went over to a friend's for a b-b-q. hannah was pretty calm the entire time. the guys sat around and talked about "guy things" and the girls sat around and talked about "girl things". it was awesome to see another friend that i haven't seen in a while. in fact, looks like he's in charge of setting up a temporary skate park for an event coming up in our area. since i worked on another skate project with him in the past, i'll probably be helping build some of the ramps for this upcoming event. it's gonna be awesome. peace, spudwrench web log - thursday, august 23, 2001 day 39. twenty, twenty, twenty-four hours a go-o-o, i wanna be sedated... well, the last couple nights have been pretty good. hannah slept pretty well (only waking up once) but did get a little cranky around 6am. so, given the fact that she's probably hungry, i'll give her a break. :) work is gonna be a pain for the next month or so. first, my budget for the year is already completely spent. and, no, it wasn't my fault. it's called "creative accounting" from other departments. i call it "highway robbery". unfortunately, i need to buy about 3 more computers. those 3 will result in a serious round of computer shuffle (9 computers moved total), all of which i'll need to format and reinstall. oh, and that needs to be done within the next 2 weeks. not to mention keeping up with all my other work. second, i got a letter on monday stating that our current isp is "re-organizing" and will be terminating all service out of the local office as of september 1st. that gives me two weeks to find a new isp *and* have them install new data lines. not gonna happen... most isp's will tell you 4-6 weeks just to get the lines installed, not including working the bugs out. and my users are so "addicted" to their internet access that a *minor* hiccup in internet service sends them into a hissy-fit. and the topper... we are transferring our domain from the original registrant to me (since he's moving out of the state). we started this process 3 months (i.e. 13 weeks) ago. the nsi has yet to make the requested changes to the dns records. they state that all requests should be facilitated within 6-8 weeks. so, the new web host, that i'm paying for, has absolutely no traffic going to it. and our current web host, who shall remain nameless but who truly *SUCK*, won't lift a finger to improve their service. [sigh] good night... i'm going to bed until 2002. peace, spudwrench web log - tuesday, august 21, 2001 day 37. we can dance if we want to... well, last night was ok. hannah slept pretty well but got a little cranky around 6am. so i didn't get much sleep after that. and since i went to sleep kinda late (11pm, instead of 9:30pm), i didn't get much sleep at all. ouch. but she's just a little thing who hasn't quite figured out her schedule yet so... c'est la vie. work was boring, yet again. the apple people are having trouble so i'm gonna have to tinker with some things soon. hopefully, nothing hard. heidi brought hannah over to work so we (i.e. "i") could show her off. a buddy's little boy (whom my buddy's wife brought in to have lunch with his daddy) is 10 months old and he was eye-balling hannah. and i keep telling my buddy, "you are to keep your son away from my daughter". :) we went out to dinner at a surf-n-turf place for my wife's birthday. my wife fed hannah right before we left and she (hannah) was totally quiet for the next 2 hours. 5 minutes before dessert (mud pie) she started to whimper a little. but overall she was happy as a little clam, snoozing in her carseat. gotta love that. gotta go to bed a little early tonight. i need my beauty sleep. :p peace, spudwrench web log - monday, august 20, 2001 day 36. can't touch this... well, last night was ok. hannah slept pretty well but my bum shoulder was acting up. so i almost called in sick to work, just to get some sleep. but i only went in a hour late. she is so close to smiling that it's not even funny. of course she wouldn't be smiling if she could understand how bad her baby acne is. doh! work was there. nothing really special... although i was told that my budget was going to be extended since we've been hiring people left and right. sweet! it looks like the dell laptop that i wanted is gonna happen after all. woohoo! we went to costco tonight to get some stuff we needed. nothing big about that except we left hannah with grandma for about 1-1/2 hour. grandma was thrilled beyond belief and hannah did great. gotta love that. peace, spudwrench
