web log - sunday, august 19, 2001 day 36. let's do it... well, the night before last was a little tough. hannah must have been having another growth spurt. she was wanting to eat "a full meal" about every 2 hours and only sleeping for 1-1/2 hours at the most. last night was pretty good. she went 3 hours/3 hours/4 hours from 11pm to 9am this morning. my wife and i got lots of sleep. gotta love that. she's doing a lot of "reflexive smiling". which means if you tickle her chin, she'll smile... but not on her own. i'm really looking forward to hannah being a little more interactive. i love her to pieces now but to be able to *really* play with her will truly be awesome. i did a major update on my links page. about 98% of the links there are also in my internet explorer favorites. lots of good stuff. check it out. i ran into a kid... ahem... "young man" that was in the youth group with which i used to do volunteer work. he was about 14 back then, so he must be about 20 now. but dang, has he gotten *huge*. he must have grown about 18 inches since i last saw him. and the biceps on him... dang. i wish i had biceps like that. [sigh] health club, here i come. we went to a friend's son's one year old birthday party. it was pretty cool. i knew just about everyone there and there was lots of free food (which is always good). we left a little early to feed hannah. ok, i spent close to 5 hours (friday night and saturday morning) compiling a list of all the pc games i've ever played. pretty pathetic, I know. but i was honestly curious so i went ahead and did it. for the record, this list is not complete. i'm sure that i'm missing a number of games that i've simply forgotten about. but these are all the games that I distinctly remember playing or vaguely remember playing by seeing a screenshot. also, i have not finished every single game on this list, probably only half. of the half that I did not finish, i would guess that a quarter of those were only "demos" and not the full game. suffice it to say, i was honestly amazed (and am a little embarassed) to find that the list is over 650 games long (670 currently). talk about your uber-geek... peace, spudwrench web log - friday, august 17, 2001 day 34. and everything, turn, turn, turn... last night was good. apparently, hannah went to sleep after her 1am feeding. my wife heard her fuss a little bit around 3:30am but she fell back asleep. She then slept until about 5:00am and was fairly quiet until 5:30am. we both got some good sleep. i really hope this is a sign of things to come. today was a pretty boring day at work. i helped with a quick phone line installation and then stayed in my office looking a few things over. i can think of a bunch of people that would love my job. too bad they'll never get it. :) i brought home a mp3 player that someone donated. it's an eiger labs mpman. unfortunately, they only support windows 95 & 98. so i've been unable to even see if it works. i updated my reviews page today with a quick review of windows xp. i also added a quick run-down of why you might consider reading my reviews. when i started putting together my quick run-down from the previous paragraph, i realized that i've played a lot of games. i'm considering posting a list of all of the pc games that i've ever played. the fps (first-person shooters) alone are over 145 games. there's almost no telling how many i've actually played. i might do it just so i know, let alone the "bragging" rights. although, it might prove once-and-for-all that i have no real home life. i guess i'll just try and see what i can come up with. peace, spudwrench web log - thursday, august 16, 2001 day 33. and the beat goes on... last night wasn't too bad. she woke up every 3 hours and needed to be fed. today she was awake through a couple of her normal sleep times. hopefully, she'll sleep most of tonight. i updated both my mp3 list and my music video list. nothing else really happened today. nothing out of the ordinary and nothing broke, acted up or was just a pain in the butt. days like these from time to time are actually kinda nice. peace, spudwrench web log - wednesday, august 15, 2001 day 32. time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking... sorry for the long lapse of updates. my wife's sister and her three kids were in town. since they live about 3 hours away and the kids are 7, 10 & 13, they don't get down here that often. so we spent some time at mom's house (about 10 minutes away) and visited until kinda late. then we'd just come home and go to sleep. the last few nights haven't been too bad. we've both been able to get some decent sleep. hannah has been either awake for almost an hour at a time or out cold for up to 4-1/2 hours. very nice. i added a couple rants to my rants page. one for a web site i frequent that's becoming worthless, the other for a program and it's inability to work with windows xp... even though windows xp uses technology from the company that makes said program. i downloaded the recent version of linux-mandrake version 8. as soon as i get tired of windows xp, i might install it and see what they've improved since version 7.1. i had to download and install nero-burning rom to be able to burn the iso's. apparently, easy-cd creator 5 platinum isn't fully compatible with windows xp (see previous paragraph). peace, spudwrench
