web log - sunday, october 21, 2001 day 101. drowning deep in my sea of loathing, broken your servant i kneel (will you give in to me). it seems what's left of my human side is slowly changing in me (will you give in to me). hannah slept for 8 hours last night, from 11pm to 7:15am. wow. it's probably a fluke but who cares. she was pretty good all day but she got a little fussy this afternoon when she got hungry. we gave her a bath and she was pretty cute the entire time. i added a few more videos to my music video listing. i know have 70 videos on my hard drive. i also added my reviews of the two game demos i tried this week. they are on my reviews page or you can just click on pool of radiance or return to castle wolfenstein here. i've also tried both bearshare and winmx. limewire got axed, too slow and too few files. bearshare didn't make it past an hour. winmx is still installed but it's not currently in use and will probably disappear soon. morpheus is still the best. peace, spudwrench web log - saturday, october 20, 2001 day 100. never made it as a wise man, i couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing. tired of living like a blind man. i'm sick of sight without a sense of feeling. woo hoo. 100 days of ramblings by me. woo hoo. hannah seems to have decided that she's not gonna sleep during the mornings and sleep more in the afternoon. but, she's also still gonna keep her normal 11pm to 7am schedule too. go figure. she's making a lot of different noises these days. no laughs yet. i'd go nuts if i kept expecting her to do it tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow. my father-in-law and i cleaned up the front yard today. we moved a bunch of wood taken from an abandoned water tank to beneath our house, moved a pile of left over concrete mix and took a trip to the dump. we can actually park two cars in our driveway now. wheeeee. i've almost completely given up on morpheus. speeds on it have gotten slower and slower over the last month. i can no longer download from morpheus faster than 20kb/s. prior to a month ago, i was able to get speeds in excess of 160kb/s. and i can still get 160kb/s from other web sites and ftp servers. i've started to try xolox and limewire. neither have many users (and therefore, limited file selection) but they do have a little better speed. neither are a real threat to morpheus but morpheus has been seriously lagging lately. hopefully, this won't last long. ok, my current free web space isn't the greatest. sure, you get 100mb of space. but actually getting connected to their server to actually use that space is a completely different matter. in fact, a number of times, i've simply skipped doing a post because i've tried to connect to the server *before* actually doing that day's post and couldn't. which then prompted me to just skip doing that day's post. so... i've acquired another free web provider. if you've bookmarked the actual url of my site (http://www.freewebz.com/spudwrench) rather than my re-direction url (which has finally changed from "http://i.am/spudwrench" to "http://go.to/spudwrench") than you'll lose where to find my site (heaven forbid). so... change your bookmarks to the new re-direction url (http://go.to/spudwrench) and everything will be honky-dorey. i'll keep the current web provider for another week. after that, you'll only get a forwarding page with a reminder to update your bookmarks. peace, spudwrench web log - sunday, october 14, 2001 day 94. somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, there's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby. somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue. and the dreams that you dare to dream, really do come true. hannah hasn't been sleeping much lately. she's not sick or anything. she just doesn't sleep much during the day. normally she does. and if she does, she's her normal angellic self. if she doesn't, she fusses with the best of them. but, for the most part, she's a happy, healthy baby. i bothered to download a couple game demos, ubisoft's "pool of radiance" and activision's "return to castle wolfenstein" this week. unfortunately, i can sum up my thoughts on both games in two words... they suck. both offer great graphics but both suffer from sever problems that make them unworthy of any of my (and hopefully, your) money. i'll probably write a couple quick reviews tomorrow and post them soon. we're getting our central heating furnace replaced at the end of the month. the old one was installed in 1977 and it only had a 20 year warrenty on it. so, $2400 later, well be getting a new one by halloween. ouch, but we need it so hannah and my wife stay warm. i can take cold (or heat) pretty well. they can't. peace, spudwrench
